About CORE Families

CORE participation is open to all committed families. CORE defines families as students, significant adults (e.g., parents, guardians), and siblings. CORE is a deliberately engaging program for the entire family, as we see significant adults are key parts of students’ learning community.

Basis for Participation in CORE

  • Students must be accompanied by a significant adult (parent, guardian, or caregiver) for each engagement, and families are welcome to bring their entire family (including siblings) to events.
  • Families are also expected to be hands-on and minds-on during all activities.
  • All families of middle and high school students who will be in 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th, and 10th grade by September 2023 in Minneapolis and St. Paul Public School Districts’ attendance zones are eligible to apply. See the specific schools on our Partner page.
  • Programming will be of particular interest to underserved families. Underserved populations may include the following identities:
    • African American
    • Asian American and Pacific Islander
    • Hispanic/Latinx
    • Hmong
    • Native American
    • Somali
    • Multiracial
    • First-Generation
    • Students with disabilities
